Billy Walker Lead Pastor

Pastor Billy Walker is the son of the previous pastor and the grandson of the founding pastor. Feeling led to follow in their footsteps, he graduated from William Tyndale College. He and his wife Laurie traveled around the United States singing and ministering together as “One Voice”. But after the passing of Billy’s best friend, and increasing speaking opportunities where God seemed to be using his message, he and Laurie both felt the Lord leading them into more of a home-based ministry. Having served as part-time minister of music for a number of years, Billy quickly made the transition into his new role. He became the Lead Pastor in 2004.

Dan Russell Executive Pastor

Pastor Dan and his wife Jo Linda came to Calvary Baptist in July of 2010, and serves as the Executive Pastor. He graduated from both Calvary Bible College and Trinity Theological Seminary and has over 30 years of pastoral experience. Pastor Dan is our Home to Home and Men to Men small group coordinator. He oversees the church counseling center, pastoral care ministry, and various other ministries. While at Calvary, Dan has led missions trips to Honduras, New York City, and the Philippines. He is getting ready to lead a group to Los Angeles in October.

Jack VanAcker Assistant Pastor

Pastor Jack is our Assistant Pastor. He has been at Calvary since he was five years old. He is a graduate of Detroit Bible College with a Masters in Religious Seminary Education. He and his wife Donna spent two years in Trinidad as a missionary. They returned to Michigan with their two children and one more on the way. He spent 14 years as Pastor in Northern Michigan. In 1997, he was asked to come help at Calvary for the summer, and he has been back ever since. Pastor Jack has received credentials to be a First Responder Chaplain, able to respond with Spiritual assistance in local and national emergency situations. He leads our discipleship class and helps lead small groups and pastoral care ministries.

Nathan Thomson Worship Leader

Nathan grew up at Calvary. After graduating college and then teaching in China, he returned first to lead our youth ministry, and now leads our worship experience. His energetic love for God and serving others makes him a vital part of Calvary. Known for his compassion and charm, Nathan has a talent for inspiring others, and he encourages a culture of prayer wherever he goes. He's currently in Windsor, studying to teach special education. In his free time he's usually writing music, exploring Detroit's inner city, talking someone through a personal crisis, or making curry for his outstanding wife, Rozaline.

Andrew Bingham Youth Director

Andy has been a part of nearly every facet of ministry at Calvary, including Kidstuff, adult bible studies, and running the sound system. In recent years he has served a crucial role in Calvary’s youth ministry by leading nearly every activity and gathering alongside Nathan Thomson. As Nathan transitioned to Worship Leader, Andy officially became our Youth Director last September. Andy brings a wealth of dedication, sincerity and humble leadership to our church. He is pictured with his fiancée, Lisa, who works alongside him in SNL. They are planning an October wedding.
